The Select Express Management Team

Select Express & Logistics is proud of all the members in our company. Many of us have grown up together in the industry, sometimes having worked together at the same companies and sometimes aware of one another from other sources. We believe that we have created a company where we are all like-minded in our passion to continually improve and progress as we challenge the status quo in the delivery and logistics industry.

Jay Waldman – Chief Executive Officer

Recognized as an industry leader by introducing innovative solutions to the same-day delivery and logistics industry, Jay brings over 30 years of senior management experience. His background as an entrepreneur and senior executive responsible for the success of well-known industry firms, positions him to bring to Select Express & Logistics the tools, knowledge and forward thinking that drives Select Express & Service today.

Jay was founder and president of Contemporary Courier, Inc. and led the company to notable success prior to its purchase by U.S. Delivery Systems (NYSE: DLV). U.S. Delivery Systems not only purchased Contemporary Courier, they also invited Jay to take on a key leadership role where he was responsible for the integration and assimilation of over 20 acquired companies. He was later selected for senior management positions with Corporate Express (NASDAQ: CEXP) including President for the Northeast Region and, after its purchase, became Chief Operating Officer of Velocity Express (NASDAQ: VEXP).

Today Jay remains actively involved in industry associations and plays a key role in the overall direction, new market development and operations of Select Express & Logistics. His efforts to continue the path of rapid growth balanced with expert systems and solutions while continuing to build and develop a superior team.

Errol Cvern – President, CFO

Errol is responsible for the company’s financial, legal, and technological practices. A career that spans more than two decades, Errol began as an owner in Contemporary Courier. He also served as a Regional Vice President for Velocity Express where he was responsible for overseeing operations in 9 Northeastern states with annual revenues of over $120 million. Errol is an acknowledged leader in information technology and it’s been his forward thinking that has propelled Select Express & Logistics to the forefront in the industry.

Errol has also been involved in many of the industry’s associations, having served as a board member and President of the New York State Messenger and Courier Association. Errol, a Certified Public Accountant, was a Senior Auditor in Public Accounting prior to entering the delivery industry.

Joseph Gallo – Senior Vice President

Joe is responsible for Select Express & Logistics sales, marketing and customer relationship marketing programs, including client solution development, management interface and program integration. Joe has over 20 years of senior level sales and operations experience in the same-day delivery and LTL industries. As Senior Vice President of Velocity Express, he was responsible for the sales coordination of 57 Account Executives and 5 Regional Directors throughout the US and Canada. Prior to that role, Joe was General Manager of Velocity’s New York City Business Unit, which was the companies’ largest and most profitable operation.

Joe is an active member of several industry associations where he continues to stay abreast of trends and solutions. He is committed to the development of his team, and works directly with key accounts, which keeps him focused on continually improving the customer experience with Select Express & Logistics.

Nick Galotti – Vice President, Human Resources and Administration

Since 1979, Nick has held senior level positions within the expedited delivery industry including airfreight, international air courier, distribution and same-day courier. Prior to his position with Select Express, Nick was Network Manager for Velocity Express, responsible for total management oversight of all operations in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Nick's strong background and experience in human resources and administration helps provide the leadership necessary for Select Express’ rapidly growing, multi-location business.

Dan Stevens – Chief Operating Officer

Having served in the United States Air Force from 1982 until 1990, Dan took his wings and Masters Degree in Business into the world of Supply Chain Operations. With 20 years of experience spanning operations, human resources and sales and in industries such as office supply, retail and the food and the same-day delivery industry, Dan delivers customized solutions for our National Accounts.

Dan’s understanding of technology as well as years of experience in developing processes and procedures, he is well positioned to take each client’s unique needs and work with the Select Express & Logistics management team to carefully construct operational solutions that bring our National clients unparalleled service.

Kern Weissman – Chief Information Officer

Kern recently joined Select Express & Logistics bringing more than 10 years of experience in the IT field and extensive and intense experience in the logistics industry. Studying Computer Science at UC Santa Cruz and working his way from technician to tactician, Kern brings to the organization a hands on approach to developing sophisticated solutions that will further empower Select Express & Logistics to forge new ground in the logistics industry and bring cost effective and creative solutions to their customers.

Kern is currently working on enhancing and growing Select Express & Logistics' internal infrastructure and expanding service options as well as secure integration options to become a seamless point of service for its customers. Expect More exciting new developments from Select Express & Logistics' IT Department.

Rob Lamell – Vice President, Network and Logistics Operations

The art and science of Select Express & Logistics’ operations center was born from years of experience in several industries. Rob is a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Vermont and has a background in operations with large firms in the beverage industry and same-day delivery business.

Rob is responsible for conceiving and executing some of the more innovative plans to support Select Express & Logistics’ most challenging clients. From cost saving route developments to sophisticated just-in-time warehouse and distribution solutions, Rob and his team make the impossible a daily routine of successful deliveries.
